Associate. My
current position is an associate in a general law practice. My practice
involves business formations, business transactions, real estate
transactions, litigation, family and collaborative law. Extensive
involvement negotiating agreements between private and public entities.
Secondary functions include researching legal issues and community
education on varied legal matters.
AFN / EPGN / PIPKIN, INC. / MTI - SEPTEMBER 2000 - MARCH 2003
Contractor for right of way and facility acquisitions. AFN - Supported
due diligence assessment of America’s Fiber Network (“AFN”) 8,000 mile
facility, right of way, and fiber optic telecommunications network. El
Paso Global Networks (“EPGN”) - My responsibilities included right of
way due diligence, reviewing and negotiating agreements ranging from
municipal licenses, joint construction and building entry agreements.
Secondary functions included assisting in developing corporate
structures within Route Development including program management,
records and document control, assisting the definition of facility
design and construction budgets. PIPKIN - Acquired telecommunications
conduit system located in downtown Phoenix and successfully negotiated
settlement between the City of Phoenix and 6 telecommunications
companies involved in a joint construction project terminated by a
defaulting telecommunications carrier. Mountain Telecommunications, Inc
(“MTI”) - Advised MTI on strategy to acquire outside plant facilities.
WILLIAMS COMMUNICATIONS - NOVEMBER 1998 - SEPTEMBER 2000
Project Manager- Route Development. Primary responsibilities included
defining strategic cost effective cross-country routes for
telecommunication infrastructure, right-of-way due diligence,
negotiating right-of-way agreements, joint construction agreements and
governmental approvals. Successfully negotiated right-of-way agreements
with national and regional right-of-way providers of over $100MM to
provide cost effective and timely solutions to over 3000 miles of long
haul routes. Worked as Williams' Lead Negotiator with national
telecommunications companies on joint construction agreements ranging in
values from $200,000 to $60MM. Designated as Williams’ primary contact
for Route Development with two national railroads, working through
extensive interactions and disputes covering over 2100 miles of
right-of-way. Developed Route Development internal operating processes
to manage account files.
HEMPHILL CORPORATION - AUGUST 1994 - AUGUST 1998
Project
Manager/Manager. Successfully accomplished the acquisition of over 40
green field wireless communication tower sites within a 24 month period
on time and within budget. Primary duties included acting as a
negotiator and liaison between respective clients, landowners which
required extensive contract drafting, researching local, county and
state regulations on tower site placement, working with governmental
officials, submission of zoning applications, building permit
applications and multiple appearances at public hearings on behalf of
clients. Promoted to site acquisition / construction management position
in 1996 which required directing site acquisition specialists, attorneys
and surveyors to purchase over 20 sites including zoning and building
permit applications, attending public hearings, reviewing local zoning
ordinances, coordinating the front end of site development. Secondary
duties included acting as in house counsel, negotiating disputes with
outside parties and coordinating the reconciliation of delinquent
accounts. Promoted to manage purchasing department in the fall of 1997
with accountability for purchasing, shipping and receiving. Established
and implemented purchasing processes reducing material costs by over
15%.
